Haunted Lake Superior
The big lake is filled with tales of, “things that go splash in the night,” flickering specters of doom, ghost ships, haunted lighthouses, sea serpents and maritime superstitions.
Great Lakes maritime historian, Frederick Stonehouse, will send a chill down your spine with stories that range from ghosts on ships and those still manning long abandoned beacons to strange creatures and underwater spirits: from ships that "talk" to their captains to specters who dwell in the nether world between water and shore. All have become part of the lore of the Great Lakes and encompass the period from the early 1700s until present. Fred's stories, collected during years of research, are a truly fascinating part of Great Lakes folklore.
