Shipwreck & Lighthouses Cruise: Apostle Islands

Shipwreck & Lighthouses Cruise: Chequamegon Bay

Sand Island Hike
Dock at Sand Island and hike the two mile trail through old virgin white pines and past picturesque coves to the lighthouse. The lighthouse was built of locally quarried brownstone and has a Norman Gothic architectural style. The round trip hike is four miles. (access to lighthouse depends on availability of Park volunteers)

Outer Island Voyage
Relax on this voyage to the most northeasterly of the Apostles, Outer Island, and explore the grounds of this remote lighthouse that sits on top of a 40' bluff. The ornate 80' lighthouse tower is connected to the Keeper's home with a timber framed passage, and the fog signal building is close-by. (no access to lighthouse & buildings)

Raspberry Island Lighthouse Keeper's Tour
Cruise up the mainland shoreline to dock at Raspberry Island and tour the "Showplace of the Apostle Islands." This restored lighthouse appears as it did in the early 1900s and the tour gives insight into what a Keepers life was like working and living on this secluded island. (interpretive fee charged for lighthouse tour, tour on 9/20 is dependent
on availability of park staff)

Devils Island Excursion
Hike the trail from the rock ledge at the northeast end of the island to the lighthouse. At Devils Island the century-old third order Fresnel lens rests in the lantern room at the top of the 82' metal tower that sits between the fog signal building and two red brick and shingle keeper's dwellings. (due to restoration projects the lighthouse & buildings are not accessible)

Ultimate Lighthouse Cruise
This popular, non-stop, scenic, narrated cruise passes five of the Apostle Islands lighthouses. We usually cruise past the lights on Sand, Raspberry and Devils island, and the LaPointe & Chequamegon Pt lights on Long Island. If conditions allow it we may pass the Outer or Michigan Island lights. Captains determine the route. (return time varies)
